General characteristics/temperament: Basset Fauve de Bretagnes are loving, happy, and outgoing dogs. They are good with children and make good family pets. However, as scent hounds, they have a tendency to dash off when they pick up an interesting scent, and have a high risk of being hit by a car.

Suitable canine sports/activities: tracking

Grooming requirement: Brush and comb weekly. Stripping may be required.

Known health problems: Ear infections, corneal ulcers, cataracts.
