Color: All colors or combination of colors and/or markings, including solid color, bi-color, tri-color, merle and sable.

Life span: 11 to 13 years.

General characteristics/temperament: The Border Collie is energetic, intelligent, keen, alert, and responsive. Their herding ability is legendary and truely amazing to watch. However, as a pet, they can be difficult to live with given their extremely high level of energy and strong tendency to herd objects and people (including cars). Their high exercise (both mental and physical) requirement is beyond what most families can provide. Often called the "workaholic of the dog world", they thrive when they have a job to do and space to run. They are affectionate toward family and friends but may be reserved toward strangers.
