Life span: 12 to 14 years.

General characteristics/temperament: The Sussex Spaniel is friendly, cheerful, and tractable. They are not as fast as other spaniel breeds, but have a very keen nose. They are typically good with children and with other dogs, and make excellent family companions. They do tend to drool quite a lot.

Grooming requirement: Brush weekly.

Known health problems: Heart problems, intervertebral disc syndrome, cancer.
